Summer's out and there's nothing for it but to book the next trip away. For that last blast of sun, or a bit of heat as things in London turn grey, Marrakech is a fail-safe. The flight is less than four hours and a great base is Riad Tchaikana, located inside the city's walled medina. Escape the noisy maze of streets for this – a citrus tree-filled courtyard find. The name translates as 'shall we meet for tea' and so there's complimentary mint tea at all hours of the day and tasty Moroccan pancakes for breakfast. You're a five minute walk from the Place des Epices which is full of cool rooftop bars and cafes and there are views of the Atlas mountains from the rooftop terrace. The biggest bonus? There's a plunge pool for when things really heat up and although it's small you won't find many traditional riads have them for this kind of price.
Book now for Easyjet flights from £35 return. Doubles from about £60. www.tchaikana.com
