I love markets; everything about them from meeting dealers and buyers, to learning about unusual curiosities and the general buzz. Here are three of my favourites for picking up interiors pieces:
Golborne Road Market
Located at the northern end of Portobello Road, this market has its own quirky ambience with an eclectic mix of antiques, second hand goods and vintage fashion. Pop into Phoenix, the newest addition to the Golborne Road interiors scene. Visit: Friday and Saturday mornings
Newark International Antiques and Collectors Fair
Europe’s largest antiques fair and the ultimate treasure hunting ground. Its enormous site has up to 2,500 stands stocking everything from chandeliers to rugs. When? Every other month. Next fair is 12–13 October. Allow 2.5 hours by car from London. iacf.co.uk
Sunbury Antiques Market
Everything from Dualit toasters to vintage trestle tables. Located just beyond Twickenham, take the train to Kempton Park or Sunbury - send all your goodies back with a man-in-a-van, of whom there are plenty! Open: two Tuesday's per month from 6.30am
